AC Milan have identified Atalanta’s Alejandro Gomez as an alternative to Gerard Deulofeu should they fail to sign the Everton winger, according to Sky Italia.

The Spaniard, who has been used sparingly by the Toffees in the present campaign, has been linked with making a move away from Goodison Park during the ongoing winter transfer window.

Deulofeu has thus far managed to clock up just 568 minutes over 13 appearances in all competitions this season, providing an assist.

AC Milan have long been credited with showing interest in the 22-year-old, while Middlesbrough and Ajax also remain in the hunt.

However, Everton boss Ronald Koeman may be reluctant to let Deulofeu leave in January due to injuries to Yannick Bolasie and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

As a result, AC Milan have zeroed in on Gomez as an option if they are unable to snap up Deulofeu from the Merseyside outfit.

Gomez, whose present contract with Atalanta runs until 2020, has thus far scored five times and set up six goals in 20 Serie A appearances this term.
