Lyon have reached an agreement with Manchester United for winger Memphis Depay, which it has been claimed will net the Premier League giants an initial £16m.

The Ligue 1 side had already thrashed out personal terms with the Dutch international as he was keen to make the move, but needed to do a deal with the Red Devils.

Now according to the Press Association, they have done just that and Depay's time at Old Trafford is ending.

Depay could well bring in £22m for Manchester United, if certain targets are hit while he is at Lyon; it is claimed the English side will earn an initial £16m.

Lyon had made signing Depay a priority for the current transfer window, but admitted they were up against it to do a deal due to the sums of money involved.

Furthermore, according the BBC, Manchester United will have a buy-back clause in the deal, along with a sell-on clause.

Manchester United are taking a big hit on the fee paid to land Depay from PSV Eindhoven in 2015 however.

He has struggled to make any meaningful impact in English football and boss Jose Mourinho had declared him surplus to requirements.
