Chelsea Under-18s boss Jody Morris admits that his players will have to adapt to playing on a difficult pitch against Birmingham City in the FA Youth Cup.

The Blues have won the competition for three years running and are again favourites to go deep into the FA Youth Cup ahead of their fourth round tie against Birmingham.

Morris admits that playing away from home will be a challenge for his players, but has insisted that they will have to adapt and get a result despite the conditions as they are not going to get a perfect pitch all the time at any level.

And he feels that his side have proven their credentials in every set of conditions over the last few seasons and are prepared to do it again when they face Birmingham this evening.

Morris told Chelsea TV: “It’s always difficult, no matter who you play [against].

“Especially when you are playing away and it’s going to be like a non-league ground and we are not too sure what the pitch will be like.

“But that’s part and parcel of the cup and you have got to go to these types of places and perform and it’s the same as any level; it is not always going to be on a carpet.

“Sometimes you might have to go and dig deep and get results away from home and that is something we are prepared to do and something we have done over the years.”

Chelsea hammered Cardiff City 5-0 in the third round of the FA Youth Cup and have been in good form, winning three of their last five games in all competitions.
