RB Leipzig winger Oliver Burke has praised Rangers star Barrie McKay and has stressed that Scotland international has the quality to achieve great things in football.

The Gers travelled to Germany to take on the Bulls at the Red Bull Arena in a friendly match last Sunday in a bid to keep sharp over the winter break.

Mark Warburton’s men lost the game 4-0 and struggled to pose a genuine threat to the Bundesliga outfit.

Burke, who managed to get his name on the scoresheet, however, lauded the Scottish Premiership outfit and said they were a quality side.

He praised McKay in particular and said that the 22-year-old showed during the game that he has the ability to do whatever he wants to do on the pitch.

“I know Barrie McKay”, Burke was quoted as saying by the Evening Times.

“He played very well and had a good match and many of the players – I don’t know everybody’s names – have good quality.

“I don’t know him all that well, but he’s capable of anything he wants to do”, added the 19-year-old.

“He’s a good quality player and I believe if he keeps working hard and keeps showing what he’s capable of then, of course, anything can happen in football.

“He’s a great player and he’s shown that.”

McKay has been a crucial member of Warburton’s squad and has made 27 appearances thus far this season in all competitions.

He has scored three goals in addition to nine assists and has helped the Gers to remain second in the Scottish Premiership table.
