Lyon have announced that Manchester United winger Memphis Depay has arrived in the French city to finalise his contract ahead of a move to the Ligue 1 outfit.

Manchester United have finally reached an agreement to sell the former PSV Eindhoven winger to Lyon for a transfer fee worth £16m and the wheels have been set in motion to complete his departure from Old Trafford.

Lyon identified Depay as their priority target for the current transfer window and the club announced last night that the Dutchman has touched down in France to complete the transfer.

The club announced via their official Twitter feed: “Memphis Depay has arrived in Lyon to discuss the terms of a future contract with Olympique Lyonnais.

“[He will be] assisted by his agent who will arrive this Thursday.”

Manchester United have reportedly inserted buy-back and sell-on clauses into the agreement with Lyon and the fee could rise up to £22m if Depay hits certain targets with the Ligue 1 outfit.

Depay arrived at Old Trafford with great expectations from PSV in the summer of 2015 and was given the iconic number seven shirt at Manchester United.

However, he failed to live up to the expectations and made only 16 Premier League starts during his time at Old Trafford.
