Celtic youngster Kristoffer Ajer has joined fellow Premiership outfit Kilmarnock on loan until the end of the season.

The 18-year-old has failed to break into Brendan Rodgers' team after being brought in last summer in spite of featuring in a friendly against Wolfsburg in pre-season.

The youngster, who was the Man of the Match for that match, helping his side to a 2-1 win, will now be expecting to play more regularly for Lee Clark's side, who are placed in the bottom half of the Scottish Premiership table.

On their latest acquisition, the Kilmarnock manager said that he expects the team to benefit from the versatility of the player, who can fit into multiple roles.

“Kris is a very versatile player, who can play for us in many positions", Clark told his club's official website.

There was competition from a number of clubs, the 44-year-old manager said, and the fact that Killie were able to beat everyone off to secure the player is delightful for Clark.

"We have fought off a lot of competition to secure the services of Kris and we are delighted to have a player of his quality here at the club.”

Ajer joined Celtic from Norwegian club Start on a pre-contract basis eleven months earlier.
