Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez insists that the Magpies will sign the players they need this month and believes that he can put in place good foundations at the club this season.

Benitez's men are firm favourites to record an instant return to the Premier League this season and currently sit in second spot in the Championship, two points behind leaders Brighton.

The Spaniard is looking to make additions this month, but is tiring of the constant focus on transfers. He has insisted however he will secure the players Newcastle need in the current window.

"Every day we talk about transfers in the club", he told Inside Futbol.

"The plan is to sign the best players possible", Benitez stressed.

And the former Liverpool boss is confident that his men can instantly return to the top flight, while he is also planning to use this season to put in place solid foundations at St. James' Park.

"Yes, I believe that we have the potential to succeed [with an instant return].

"Obviously to be promoted is the objective.

"That's the most important thing, but also we can build something.

"In order to return to the Premier League we have to be patient and deal with every match separately."

Newcastle are next in action on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Rotherham United to St. James' Park, a game which is followed by an FA Cup tie away at Oxford United the following weekend.
