Motherwell boss Mark McGhee says he is not surprised that Bundesliga side RB Leipzig have been linked with making a move for Rangers winger Barrie McKay.

Rangers recently locked horns with RB Leipzig in Germany in a friendly fixture and Mark Warburton's men came off second best, losing 4-0.

However, McKay emerged from the friendly fixture with credit and his display impressed the German outfit, who have now been linked with launching a bid to take him to the Red Bull Arena.

McGhee, who himself played in Germany with Hamburg, says he would recommend the move to McKay and is not surprised RB Leipzig have been looking at the Rangers talent.

"For any young player going to place like that, especially in a league like the Bundesliga, I'd tell them it's a fantastic place to play and a fantastic country to live in", McGhee was quoted as saying by STV.

"They are fantastic people, too, so I'd always recommend that players take that opportunity if they get it.

"I hadn't heard that story but it doesn't surprise me", he added.

Rangers are unlikely to be keen to allow McKay to exit Ibrox, with the winger considered one of the club's brightest talents and his potential consistently being talked up by manager Warburton.

However, RB Leipzig could test the Gers' resolve with a substantial offer for McKay.
