Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has revealed that the club are waiting for Barnsley’s response to their offer for midfielder Conor Hourihane, who has been linked with Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers.

The 25-year-old Irish midfielder has been a subject of interest for Villa in the ongoing transfer window and the club are keen to snare him away from Oakwell in the coming few days.

The Midlands club have slapped in a bid for the player with Barnsley and Bruce revealed that the club are waiting for a reply from the Yorkshire club before deciding on their next course of action.

The Villa boss is also confident that Villa will have something to say about their chase for Hourihane shortly and appeared confident about signing the Irishman in the ongoing transfer window, something which spells bad news for Celtic and Rangers if they do want the schemer.

On Villa’s chase for the midfielder, Bruce said in a press conference: “The boy Hourihane, we are waiting to hear from Barnsley back today, that’s what we are led to believe.
