Celtic may make a second attempt to sign KAS Eupen striker Henry Onyekuru after seeing an opening bid knocked back.

Bhoys boss Brendan Rodgers is still in the market for additions in the current transfer window and has been impressed by the 19-year-old's displays in the Belgian top flight, where he has struck ten times in 22 appearances this term; the Nigerian has also scored twice in three Belgian Cup games.

Onyekuru is owned by Qatari sports set-up Aspire and they knocked back Celtic's first bid, insisting the Nigerian is not for sale.

But according to the Sunday Post, Celtic are considering trying their luck again, especially as Onyekuru has hinted that his future could soon be resolved amid interest from a number of sides.

He was quoted as saying: "A lot of teams have shown interest to sign me – from France, Germany and Turkey.

"Celtic are interested in me and they have tabled an official bid.

"There are discussions between the clubs and my agent.

"I believe everything will be sorted out soon", Onyekuru added.

Just 19 years old, Onyekuru helped Eupen win promotion from the Belgian second tier last season, hitting six goals in 19 games for the club.

He has handled the step up to the top flight with ease and in so doing attracted interest from a number of clubs.
