Josh Windass believes he is the only player at Rangers who knows just what team-mate Matt Crooks is capable of and has dubbed the midfielder "amazing" when on song.

Rangers swooped to bring in both Windass and Crooks from English League Two club Accrington Stanley in the summer, taking advantage of the pair seeing their contracts expiring.

While Windass has shone at Ibrox and forced his way into Mark Warburton's first team, Crooks has found the going more difficult and was recently sent on loan to English League One outfit Scunthorpe United.

Windass feels that Crooks needs the game time the loan spell will potentially bring. And he hopes the midfielder returns firing to Ibrox as he is a firm fan and believes his team-mate is capable of great things.

"No [I’m not disappointed he’s left] because he's going to get some game time, he obviously needs it after he's not played in a long time", Windass said on Rangers TV.

"I think it will do him the world of good and hopefully he'll come back here and produce the form that I know he can play.

"I'm the only one here who's seen what his full potential is and he's an amazing player when he's at it.

"Hopefully he comes back from his loan and does well for us", he added.

Scunthorpe's clash this weekend was postponed, but Crooks came off the bench for five minutes at the end of their last match, a 2-1 win at Northampton Town.
