Leeds United skipper Liam Bridcutt has revealed he looked up to former Whites manager Dennis Wise while growing up and believes the tigerish midfielder was underrated.

Wise, who managed Leeds between 2006 and 2008, burst onto the scene at Wimbledon, ultimately earning a switch to Chelsea, where he remained for over a decade and won the FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup Winners' Cup.

Bridcutt came through the ranks at Chelsea, but even before then had looked up to Wise as an inspiration, explaining he enjoyed seeing the midfielder in action.

And Bridcutt feels Wise was severely underrated when it came to his playing ability.

"Dennis Wise", he shot back on LUTV when asked about his inspiration growing up.

"He was captain of Chelsea at the time.

"I used to love watching him play.

"Very underrated for the work he did", Bridcutt added.

The Leeds midfielder started life in the youth ranks at Chelsea, however he was unable to follow in Wise's footsteps by establishing himself in the first team at Stamford Bridge.

Bridcutt joined Leeds on a permanent basis last summer.
