Josh Windass has revealed that Rangers manager Mark Warburton and assistant manager David Weir are constantly working to improve the defensive side of his game, which he believes is currently his weakest area.

The energetic midfielder linked up with Rangers last summer from League Two club Accrington Stanley and has been praised for his performances for the Scottish giants.

Windass has increasingly become a key player under Warburton, despite suffering injuries which have kept him out of action at points this season.

Rangers' coaching team are working hard on improving the former Accrington star as a player and Windass revealed that the defensive side of his game is receiving special attention.

The midfielder said on Rangers TV: "I'm playing in a different position to last year, so it's obviously a lot different to what I'm used to.

"But I feel like I've improved in this position at the moment and I'm just trying to keep working on my defensive side.

"The gaffer keeps drilling into me about that side of the game so I'm just trying to work on that", Windass stressed.

"Davie and the gaffer drum it into me all the time about the defensive side and that's probably the weakest part of my game at the moment, so that's what I'm trying to work on."

So far this season Windass has made 16 appearances across all competitions for the Gers, scoring once and providing his team-mates with three assists.

His deal with the Gers runs until 2020.
