Former Chelsea star Jason Cundy believes the Blues can start thinking about the Premier League title if they can get through their upcoming games against Liverpool and Arsenal with a sizeable gap at the top.

Antonio Conte’s men, who beat Hull City 2-0 on Sunday, are currently atop the league table with 55 points from 22 games.

Barring Arsenal, all of Chelsea’s title rivals dropped points at the weekend as the Stamford Bridge outfit moved eight points clear at the top of the table.

Chelsea, whose next two Premier League outings will be against Liverpool and Arsenal respectively, also have league games remaining against Manchester United and Manchester City.

And Cundy, who thinks Chelsea will have to lose at least another three league games this season for the chasing pack to catch up, feels his former team can start to think about the title if they maintain their considerable gap at the top after the matches against Liverpool and Arsenal.

“We have to lose at least another three minimum and they have got to keep winning theirs”, he said on Chelsea TV.

“We still have to go to United, City are still got to come here, we still have to go to Liverpool and Arsenal have to come here.

“They are the games we are all looking at and thinking if we can get through these next two games with a sizeable gap, then we can start thinking about the title.”

Chelsea will next face Brentford in the FA Cup on Saturday.
