Out-of-favour Celtic defender Efe Ambrose has revealed that although he is not close to joining any club yet, he waiting to see what can be worked out before the closure of the winter transfer window.

The Nigeria international, whose present contract with Celtic will expire next summer, has thus far made just two appearances for the Hoops in the present campaign, with both of those coming in the Champions League qualifiers back in July.

As a result, Ambrose has been heavily linked with leaving the Scottish champions in January, with Bastia and Blackburn Rovers interested in snapping him up.

However, the 28-year-old, who insisted that he is not close to joining another team yet, refused to rule out the possibility of him quitting Paradise this month.

“[I] am not close to joining any team yet”, he told Owngoalnigeria.com.

“I read the reports about a pre-contract with Bastia, [in the] same way [I] have read reports about [a] contract with other teams.

“I am in the final six months of my contract, which I believe is making talks about an exit louder than expected.

“Regarding Blackburn Rovers, they are a traditional team with a rich culture and proud history, plus a very good manager in Owen Coyle, [however] like I said earlier [I] am not close to an exit from Celtic yet but we will see what can be worked out in the coming days.”

Ambrose, who joined Celtic from FC Ashdod in 2012, has thus far amassed 169 appearances for the Bhoys, helping the club to three league titles, one Scottish Cup and a Scottish League Cup.
