Aston Villa are set to complete the signing of James Bree within the next 24 hours, and are then expected to finalise a deal with Barnsley for his team-mate Conor Hourihane, who is on the radar of Celtic and Rangers.

The duo, whose present contracts with the Tykes will expire this summer, have been heavily linked with leaving Oakwell during the ongoing winter transfer window.

Several clubs have been credited with showing interest in the pair, but according to BBC Radio Sheffield, Aston Villa are on the verge of completing the signing of Bree.

And Hourihane, who has been mooted as a target for Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers, is also expected to follow his team-mate to Villa Park.

Although the midfielder trained with Barnsley on Monday, and nothing has been finalised yet, it is still claimed that a move to Aston Villa is likely to go through.
