Tottenham Hotspur assistant coach Jesus Perez has insisted that character and resilience are two important qualities that the current Spurs’ squad possess.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men came from behind to secure a 2-2 draw against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City on Saturday in the Premier League.

Spurs showed brilliant fighting spirit and managed to bag a point from a game that was dominated by the home side from the start.

Following the draw at the Etihad Stadium, Tottenham flew to Barcelona for a mid-season training camp.

Perez, who travelled along with the team to assist Pochettino, was asked about the mood in the squad after their draw against the Citizens and the assistant coach said that the team want to get better game by game.

“As Mauricio always explains, game by game we want to be better as a group and as a team and sometimes you cannot play your best because the opponent has the same quality”, Perez told Spurs TV.

“The most important thing is the character and resilience to play in our way until the final whistle.

“This is why the team came back [against Manchester City].

"This is a clear style and philosophy”, added the 45-year-old.

Spurs are currently third in the Premier League and are nine points behind league leaders Chelsea.

They will play against Sunderland, who are at the bottom of the league table, in their next Premier League encounter and will aim to extend their unbeaten run.

Before then however they face Wycombe Wanderers in the FA Cup.
