Michael Carrick has insisted Manchester United will not take anything for granted ahead of the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final tie against Hull City, though they are already excited about a potential Wembley trip.

The Red Devils will travel to the KCOM Stadium on Thursday to take on the Tigers in the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final.

Jose Mourinho’s men won the first leg 2-0 and will aim to avoid defeat as they look to book a spot at Wembley.

Carrick said that his side feel that they are close to reaching the final, but are not taking things for granted.

"Going to Wembley, winning a trophy, how can you not like that?" Carrick told MUTV.

"Especially when we feel we are as close as we are to getting there, without taking anything for granted.

"That's what you play for and that's what the fans want to watch; they want to go and celebrate victories and win things, lift trophies, have a good day out and enjoy it", added the 35-year-old.

Carrick has thus far made 17 appearances in all competitions for Manchester United this season and has a goal and an assist to his name.

Manchester United last lifted the EFL Cup in 2010 after defeating Aston Villa 2-1 in the final and they will be eyeing winning the silverware this campaign to end their seven-year drought.
