Paris Saint-Germain winger Jese Rodriguez is set to join Middlesbrough on loan for the second half of the season, according to French sports daily L’Equipe.

The 23-year-old, who joined PSG from Real Madrid for €25m, has struggled to make his mark for the French champions.

Jese further fell down the pecking order at Parc des Princes after PSG completed the signing of Julian Draxler from Wolfsburg.

As a result, the Spaniard has been heavily linked with leaving PSG this month, with Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Liverpool and Las Palmas all credited with showing interest in him.

And it seems that Boro have won the race to sign the former Real Madrid man, who has scored two goals in 14 appearances in all competitions this season.

Rodriguez’s agent was in talks with the Riverside Stadium outfit on Wednesday and the final details are set to be confirmed soon.

Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka previously worked with Jese while he was the assistant manager at Real Madrid.

Jese was keen to return to Spain with Las Palmas, but his wage demands are still too high for the Spanish team despite him willing to take a pay cut.
