West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has indicated that the Hammers have not given up on signing Scott Hogan from Brentford.

The London Stadium outfit have been trying to land Hogan as they look to strengthen their attacking options, but have so far come up short in the chase for his signature.

West Ham have already brought in defender Jose Fonte from Southampton, while they are closing in on Hull City attacking midfielder Robert Snodgrass.

And Hogan may yet join the pair at the London Stadium, with Gold indicating that his side have not given up hope of snapping up the Brentford man.

Asked on Twitter how the Hammers can sign a defender and a midfielder, but miss out on Hogan, Gold indicated fans should keep the faith.

He replied: "You can't always get what you want, but then again, it's not over until the fat lady sings."

Hogan has been in superb form for Brentford in the Championship this season and has netted 14 times in 25 league appearances for the Bees.

It remains to be seen whether West Ham will switch to an alternative target if they cannot land Hogan, especially having lost a striker this month in the shape of Simone Zaza.
