Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has explained that he cannot ask any more of his charges, following the Hoops’ 1-0 win over Aberdeen on Wednesday night.

Dedryck Boyata’s 57th minute goal at Parkhead turned out to be the difference between the teams as Celtic consolidated their place at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

The Scottish champions have thus far accumulated 67 points from 23 games and presently find themselves 25 points clear of second-placed Rangers, who were thrashed 4-1 by Hearts in another league game on Wednesday; Aberdeen are third in the table with 40 points, having played a match less.

And Rodgers, who admitted that his side are leaving nothing left to be desired, however, insisted that Celtic’s target is always to win their next game.

“We’re 27 ahead of Aberdeen, 25 ahead of the others and what we’re trying to create is an attitude for the next four or five years and beyond”, he told the club’s official site.

“That means we have an obligation to play well and win games.

“You can’t ask any more of what they’re doing at the moment.

“You look at their energy in the game to press, to defend was fantastic, but win the next game is always the target.”

Celtic, who are yet to lose a domestic game in the present campaign, will next face St. Johnstone in an away Scottish Premiership fixture on Sunday.
