Real Madrid have made initial moves regarding a fresh bid to sign Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, according to Spanish daily Marca.

The custodian, who has turned out to be a key player for the Red Devils since joining the club from Atletico Madrid in 2011, has been incessantly linked with Real Madrid in recent seasons.

Los Blancos came desperately closing to signing De Gea in 2015, but he stayed put at Manchester United and signed a new deal with the Premier League giants which runs until 2019.

However, it has been suggested that Real Madrid have already started the process of trying to sign the Spain international, whose release clause is speculated to be around €65m.

De Gea, whom Real Madrid believe possesses the quality to win matches, is aware of the Spanish giants’ interest in him, but he is currently fully focussed on Manchester United, it has been claimed.

Although Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is happy with Keylor Navas’ performance, he is not opposed to the idea of signing De Gea.

In an interview with AS, the goalkeeper refused to talk about the repeated links with Real Madrid and said: "I will not talk about that.

"I will not talk about it anymore.

"Now I have to stay focused with my club."

The 26-year-old has thus far made 32 appearances in all competitions this season, managing 11 clean sheets.
