Pedro Caixinha feels his managerial experience at his former clubs will help him prepare for the Rangers job.

The Gers appointed Caixinha as their new manager after he left Qatari club Al Gharafa, with the Portuguese signing a deal until 2020 with the Glasgow giants.

Caixinha was present in the stands at Parkhead on Sunday as Rangers scored a late goal to hold Celtic to a 1-1 draw.

Besides Al Gharafa, the 46-year-old has had managerial stints at Uniao Leiria, Nacional and Santos Laguna.

And Caixinha, whose first game in charge of Rangers will be on Saturday against Hamilton Academical, thinks the experiences he has had at his former employers will come in handy as he settles into the hot seat at Ibrox.

He further added that he will regularly look to improve himself as well as his charges at Rangers.

“They will help me a lot to arrive here in a totally different preparation, and in order to say that this is a challenge I am totally ready to face”, he told Rangers TV.

“Along the way, I am trying to build my own, and I think if you think in a positive way, and the way you always want to be better today than you were yesterday, then you always try to think in a dynamic way.

“My idea of the game and methodology about the approach and to prepare the players to play in one specific direction is always changing for the better, and always changing your mentality in order to add something else.

“That means the experience I have before I arrived here helped me a lot in order to get here and to implement my ideas.

“Of course, we need to have a clear idea about all the needs, and identifying the processes in order to keep them running and match what the good things that have been done at the club and good things you want to implement as well.”

Rangers, who are 33 points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, returned to the top flight after a gap of four years this year.
