Crystal Palace goalkeeper Steve Mandanda is interested in returning to Marseille in the summer after dropping down the pecking order at Selhurst Park, but Monaco are also showing an interest in him.

The Eagles snapped up the France international from Marseille on a free transfer last summer, but a knee injury means that he has not played a minute of senior football since November.

And Palace boss Sam Allardyce suggested recently that the Frenchman is now third choice goalkeeper at Selhurst Park behind Wayne Hennessey and Julian Speroni.

According to French sports daily L’Equipe, the player wants to leave Palace in the summer and return to his former club Marseille in order to regain his place in the France squad.

Mandanda met Marseille sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta in December, but at that point he wanted to finish the season at Palace before taking a decision in the summer.

And it seems he has made up his mind about returning to Marseille at the end of the season as it seems unlikely he is ever going to convince Allardyce of his qualities at Palace.

His agent is set to hold talks with Palace this week over his future at the club.

However, Marseille are not the only club who are interested in Mandanda as Ligue 1 leaders Monaco are also keeping close tabs on the Palace goalkeeper’s situation.
