Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton believes the club have guaranteed to Brendan Rodgers that he can keep hold of his best players during the summer transfer window.

Rodgers, who has led Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title and the Scottish League Cup, while they are also in the final of the Scottish Cup, recently put pen to paper on a four-year deal at Parkhead.

Several Celtic players are expected to be in demand in the summer transfer window, not least full-back Kieran Tierney and striker Moussa Dembele.

But regardless of interest in the pair, Sutton thinks Celtic will have told Rodgers that no players he wants to keep will be sold.

"I don't think Brendan Rodgers would have signed his new contract without the guarantee that he can keep hold of his best players", Sutton said on BT Sport.

"It's important that they do", he added.

Sutton also stressed that for Celtic the real challenge next season will come in the Champions League, rather than the Premiership.

"For Celtic it's about building, it's about the Champions League", he said.

"That's where the pressure is going to be next season."

Celtic have remained unbeaten in domestic football this season and are now rapidly closing in on a treble.

The Bhoys crashed out of the Champions League at the group stage however, finishing bottom of their group, and will be desperate to do better next term.
