Mateo Kovacic's agent insists he is baffled by the transfer speculation surrounding his client.

The Croatia international has been linked with leaving Real Madrid during the forthcoming summer transfer window, amid links with Tottenham Hotspur, AC Milan and Roma.

Kovacic has struggled to feature on a regular basis for Los Blancos, having to make do with substitute appearances and the occasional start, something which has fuelled speculation of an exit.

But the midfielder's agent has rubbished talk his client will leave, despite making just five starts in Real Madrid's last 14 La Liga games.

"There is not any news. Or rather, there are no chances that this will be possible", Nikky Vuksan said when asked about a return to Serie A by Italian outlet Tutto Mercato.

"Mateo has a very long contract with Real Madrid, which runs until 2021.

"So I do not understand all these rumours, all this speculation about his future."

Vuksan explained that his client is happy at the Bernabeu and enjoys a good relationship with his team-mates and coach Zinedine Zidane, which means a departure is not on the agenda.

"Kovacic plays at a great club in Real Madrid and is very happy.

"Every day I hear and read news that talks about a possible farewell, but it's not true.

"He has a great relationship with his team-mates and with the coach, so I say very clearly, Kovacic will not leave Real Madrid, he will surely stay."

Since moving to Real Madrid from Inter in 2015, Kovacic has clocked up 49 appearances in La Liga for the club and 70 across all competitions.
