Inter Milan are hopeful of using Walter Sabatini to gain an advantage in the chase for Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan in the coming months.

Chelsea tried hard to sign the Belgian midfielder last summer but Nainggolan ultimately decided to stay at the Stadio Olimpico, where he is considered a cult hero.

Arsenal have been linked with being on the player's tail, while Manchester United are also interested in signing the 29-year-old this summer, but Inter are confident of finally snaring Nainggolan away from Roma in the coming transfer window.

And according to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, the Nerazzurri are hopeful of using Sabatini’s close ties with the player and his representatives to entice Nainggolan to the San Siro.

The former Roma technical director was appointed as the sporting director of Suning Group, the owners of Inter, on Wednesday and they believe the Italian holds the key in convincing the Belgian.

Sabatini worked hard to convince Nainggolan to continue at Roma last summer and Inter are keen to see the Italian use the same negotiating skill to take the Belgian to the San Siro.

The midfielder has provided very little information to suggest that he wants to leave Roma in the summer but the Nerazzurri are hoping that Sabatini will influence him to change his mind.
