Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that young midfielder Renato Sanches will stay put at the Allianz Arena next season, amid being linked with Manchester United.

Since arriving from Benfica last summer the youngster has failed to establish himself in Ancelotti's team, having managed just 17 league appearances along with six in the Champions League.

Manchester United had shown keen interest in the player at Benfica, only to be faced with disappointment as the Portuguese signed for the German giants.

It has been claimed the Red Devils are still keen and could return with a fresh offer for the youngster, though the former Chelsea manager insists that Sanches is going to stay at the club, having arrived only last year.

Ancelotti makes no bones about the fact he wants Sanches to give him more and he is hoping the former Benfica man does just that next term.

"Renato Sanches has his first season here. For such young players it is often difficult to get used to", Ancelotti was quoted as saying by beIN Sports.

"But of course we expect more from him.

"We must be patient with him.

"He will have more chances to play next season.

"He will stay here."

Bayern Munich paid an initial €35m to sign Sanches from Benfica.
