Former Inter Milan midfielder Nicola Berti feels it would be a huge coup if the Nerazzurri can snare Antonio Conte away from Chelsea in the summer.

Inter have been in pursuit of the former Juventus boss despite Conte’s repeated insistence that he is happy at Chelsea and wants to continue in west London for the foreseeable future.

However, the uncertainty surrounding his future remains as there are suggestions that Conte is yet to receive assurances from Roman Abramovich that he will have more power in the transfer market this summer.

And there are also claims that Inter are ready to offer him a huge transfer war chest to tempt him to move back to Italy and Berti feels it could make a huge difference to Inter.

The former Nerazzurri midfielder feels Inter need a figure like Conte at the club and believes that experienced negotiator Walter Sabatini has been hired by the Serie A giants to convince the former Italy boss to move to the San Siro.

Berti told FcInterNews: “I would be delighted if Conte came.

“It is true that he played for Juventus and then coached them, but these things no longer matter these days.

“To me he could make a huge difference as he is the kind of strong figure that the dressing room needs and I think Sabatini was hired to get him to leave London.”

Inter are expecting to receive a final answer from Conte after the FA Cup final towards the end of the month.
