Leeds United's takeover saga is claimed to be behind Torino lodging an appeal to FIFA over defender Pontus Jansson.

The Serie A outfit loaned Jansson to Leeds last summer and the deal contained a clause which would compel the Whites to sign him on a permanent basis for €4m if he made 22 or more appearances for the club.

Jansson easily surpassed the total as he established himself as a key man at Leeds and earned the admiration of the club's fans.

But Torino have not been paid yet, with Leeds believing they have until 30th June, while the Italians want paying now.

Leeds co-owner Andrea Radrizzani is currently in the process of buying the 50 per cent of the club he does not own from chairman Massimo Cellino.

And according to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, Torino's president Urbano Cairo is concerned that the change in ownership could introduce complications into the payment for Jansson.

As such, Torino want the €4m paying immediately, and are calling on FIFA to take their side.
