Rangers full-back Lee Hodson has heaped praise on Clint Hill, who will be leaving the club at the end of the season.

Hill joined Rangers from Queens Park Rangers on a one-year deal last summer and has managed to make his mark at Ibrox.

Besides helping Rangers’ defence, the 38-year-old centre-back has scored six times, including a late strike which helped the Gers to earn a point away at Celtic in March.

However, the veteran defender, who was not offered a new deal by manager Pedro Caixinha, confirmed last week that he will be leaving Rangers this summer; he also expressed his disappointment at not being offered a fresh contract.

And Hodson, who wished Hill all the best for the future, claims that the former QPR and Stoke man is a top professional.

“Clint has been fantastic”, he said in a pre-match press conference on Monday.

“He has done very well this season, but that’s not my business to be talking about, it’s between him and the manager.

“But he’s a top professional, you can see that on the pitch and off the pitch.

“He’s a great lad and we wish him all the best, but as I said before, it’s between the manager and Clint.”

Hill, who has been a popular figure amongst the Rangers fans, put in a good performance during the Light Blues’ 2-1 win over Hearts at the weekend.
