Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic has insisted that the Cottagers are expecting to keep hold of their best players despite failing to win promotion from the Championship, amid interest from Liverpool in Ryan Sessegnon.

Jokanovic's men were edged out 1-0 by Reading on Tuesday night in the second leg of their playoff semi-final tie, losing 2-1 on aggregate to Jaap Stam's men.

The Fulham boss recently insisted the best way to keep the 16-year-old left-back was by winning promotion to the Premier League, but now that is impossible for the Cottagers.

He though has struck a determined figure after the game, insisting that the board have assured him that the club's key players will stay.

"I expect our best players are going to stay with us – this is the information I have from the board. We are talking about our most important players – they are going to stay with us", the Fulham manager was quoted as saying by Get West London.

"Next season will be complicated. We'll push to be promoted. We must be clever in the period in front of us", he added.

Fulham are likely to be tested by bids for Sessegnon in the forthcoming summer transfer window and it remains to be seen if the Cottagers are willing to knock back substantial offers for the 16-year-old.
