Jan Vertonghen’s agent has all but ruled out the possibility of his client leaving Tottenham Hotspur in the forthcoming summer transfer window.

The Belgian defender, who joined Tottenham from Ajax in 2012, has forged a strong central defensive partnership with Toby Alderweireld and has been key behind his team’s rise over the last two seasons.

With Tottenham set to finish the Premier League campaign in second, players such as Vertonghen may feel they have little to gain by leaving the club in the summer and his agent admits that his client is happy in London.

Inter Milan are considering making a move for the Belgian during the summer transfer window as part of their transfer plans, but it seems making an approach is going to be fruitless.

Tom de Mul, the defender’s agent, made it clear that there is little to  no chance of his client leaving Spurs in the summer.

“He’s playing as a top performer in a top team and is certainly happy.”

Asked about the chances of Vertonghen staying at Spurs, De Mol left just a one per cent chance of a move and said: “99 per cent, as in football I never say never.”
