West Ham's hopes of signing Mario Mandzukic have suffered a blow with the news the striker is set to be offered a contract extension by Juventus in the coming days and his agent is ready to fly to Italy to finalise an agreement.

Despite not playing in his favoured position as a centre forward, the Croatian has remained an important part of Juventus’ plans for the season and has clocked up 46 appearances in all competitions.

There are suggestions that the 30-year-old is considering his future at the club as he wants to play more regularly as a centre forward, but it seems Juventus want to keep him.

According to Il Messaggero, the Italian champions are preparing to offer him a new contract in the coming days and are keen to see him continue at the club for the time being.

His agent is set to fly to Italy in the coming days to hold further talks with Juventus over a new deal and the club are hopeful of finalising an agreement soon.
