Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Erik Lamela has undergone surgery on his left hip, but claim the operation will not affect his overall recovery period.

Lamela went under the knife in early April as well after failing to achieve the desired match fitness, which would be essential for him to return to training.

The Argentina international, who has been ruled out for the season, has been sidelined since October.

And Spurs also confirmed that in addition to being operated on, on his left hip, Lamela has also undergone a planned procedure to his right hip.

The winger will continue to be monitored by Tottenham’s medical staff, with the 25-year-old expected to return to action next season.
