Barcelona believe if Arsenal fail to qualify for the Champions League they will be able to drive down the price for Hector Bellerin in the summer.

The Catalan giants are in the market for a full-back in the upcoming transfer window and the La Masia graduate is their top target as they look to bring back their former academy player.

Barcelona have already held tentative talks with his representatives over a summer move and Bellerin is also suggested to be ready to return to his former club despite being content with life in London.

The key hurdle in the transfer saga is Arsenal, who are unwilling to lose the Spaniard and are expected to demand a fee of around €50m from Barcelona in the summer.

However, with Arsenal’s Champions League hopes hanging by a thread ahead of the last day of the season, according to Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo, the deal could become an easier kettle of fish if the Gunners fail to finish in the top four.

The Catalan giants believe that the negotiations could become smoother and they will be able to drive down Bellerin’s price as Arsenal would not be able to use the lure of the Champions League to keep the Spaniard.

Barcelona are eager to try and sign the Spaniard in the summer and are waiting to see how the dice rolls on Sunday where Arsenal need Liverpool or Manchester City to drop points to break into the top four.
