Celtic assistant manager Chris Davies has revealed that striker Moussa Dembele has started light training following his injury, though he remains a doubt for the Scottish Cup final on 27th May.

The in-form striker has been out of action since picking up a hamstring injury in the 2-0 semi-final win against Rangers in the same tournament late last month.

He has since missed three league games and is still continuing with his recovery process, with the assistant manager insisting that he cannot be certain of the player's availability for the final.

“He’s in light training and hopefully next week he can take some part in full training", Davies told his club's official website.

"It’s a progressive rehab he is going through. He is starting light training on the grass and next week will make things a bit clearer.

"From my understanding, it will be too early to say.

"He is a very conscientious guy and he will give himself every chance of being available in some capacity for the final.”

The presence of Dembele may be crucial for the match as the striker has been a dominant force in front of goal for the Bhoys this season, having scored an overall 32 goals in 49 matches and setting up nine more for his team-mates.

Celtic do have other options though, with Leigh Griffiths keen to make an impact.
