Paris Saint-Germain star Julian Draxler insists that joining the French giants was, he feels, the best move for his career, while refusing to be drawn on claims Jurgen Klopp wanted him at Liverpool.

The Germany international moved to the Parc des Princes in January from Wolfsburg after being linked with a number of clubs, including Arsenal and Liverpool.

In an interview with the BBC, Draxler was open to admitting talks with sides in the Premier League and conceded a switch was "close". However, he insists that ultimately he had to take a decision, which took him to Paris.

"You know we have been in talks with some clubs in England as well, but this time I decided to make the decision as to what I feel and what I prefer for myself", Draxler said.

"There were some teams that wanted me from the Premier League but it was not like it was very, very close.

"Football is about making decisions and that's what I did. I decided that PSG is the best club for me at the moment."

Of his Premier League suitors, Liverpool were consistently mooted as being keen to take him to Anfield.

A move to Liverpool would have seen Draxler link up with countryman Klopp, but the forward is not willing to be drawn on the idea he turned down the Reds.

"It's not about Jurgen Klopp, about Liverpool or about different clubs from England.

"It was just my opinion that I am the best player for PSG at the moment – so that's what I decided.

"I chose a great new step in my career because PSG is a really, really great club . They have big goals, they want to reach big things and that's why I want to be part of it."

Draxler also took time to reveal that his decision to move to France wasn't dictated by money.

"I did not – and will not – decide my club just for the money."
