Leeds United target Soren Gonther has agreed to join Dynamo Dresden when his contract at St. Pauli expires this coming summer.

With Gonther's contract due to run out in the summer, Leeds were strongly linked earlier this year with wanting to take advantage of the situation and the defender was quick to signal he could be open to the move.

But the centre-back, who is St. Pauli's captain, will not be playing his football at Elland Road next season as he is staying in Germany.

Despite helping St. Pauli rapidly rise away from relegation trouble at the business end of the season to currently sit in ninth spot in the 2. Bundeslga, Gonther is still heading elsewhere.

He has agreed a three-year deal with Dynamo Dresden, who sit in fifth spot in the 2. Bundesliga, and will join from the summer.

Gonther has made 21 appearances for St. Pauli in the league this term and was central to the club's late season form; they were bottom in January.

The 30-year-old missed a chunk of the season through injury, but once back in his stride, Gonther helped St Pauli win five games on the bounce as part of a seven-game unbeaten run.

Leeds may be looking for a new centre-back this summer as Kyle Bartley has returned to Swansea City following the expiry of his loan at Elland Road.
