Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are interested in snapping up Aston Villa full-back Jordan Amavi during the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old French defender has continued to attract interest from top clubs in Europe despite playing in the second tier of English football with the Villans.




Marseille tried hard to sign the Frenchman from Villa in the summer, but the defender stayed put in England and continued to put in solid performances for Steve Bruce’s side.

However, with Aston Villa failing to put in a promotion challenge this season, his future is again a topic of discussion and this time around he could have the option one of the top teams in Spain.
 


According to French sports daily L’Equipe, Atletico Madrid are seriously considering the prospect of signing Amavi in the summer as part of their plans to recruit a left-back.

They are close to losing Theo Hernandez to Real Madrid at the end of the season and the club have zeroed in on the Aston Villa defender who they feel could turn out to be a smart buy.

Aston Villa wanted around €20m for Amavi when Marseille were sniffing around in January, but the club are prepared to sell the Frenchman in the summer for a fee of around €10m to €12m.

Atletico Madrid could face competition for his signature as Napoli are also keeping a close watch on Amavi as a replacement for Faouzi Ghoulam, who could be leaving the San Paolo in the summer.
