James Tavernier admits he cannot wait to sample European football with Rangers, with fixtures at Ibrox ones he is especially excited about.

Rangers will slot into the Europa League qualifiers next season due to a third place finish in the Scottish Premiership standings.

Reaching a European spot was a key objective laid down by chairman Dave King at the start of the campaign and, despite a troubled season, Rangers have met it.

That means European football at Ibrox and Tavernier, who turned out in the Europa League in 2012/13 for Newcastle United, is delighted at the prospect.

"I had a short time in Europe with Newcastle so I experienced it then and it will be a great experience for all the other lads", the right-back said in a press conference.

"I have heard European nights at Ibrox are meant to be a really good one to be involved with and I can’t wait for it", Tavernier added.

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha is expected to make wholesale changes to his squad ahead of the new campaign as he looks to make his mark in Scottish football.

The Gers have already been linked with veteran Portuguese centre-back Bruno Alves, along with Aberdeen midfielder Ryan Jack.

Tavenier will be hoping he can retain his spot in the side amidst the expected new arrivals landing at the club.
