Martin Keown believes that although Harry Kane is a "goal machine" he badly needs to pick up silverware with Tottenham Hotspur.

Kane, who scored four goals in Spurs' 6-1 drubbing of Leicester City on Thursday night, helped himself to a hat-trick in a 7-1 rout of Hull City on Sunday to seal the Premier League's Golden Boot in style.

The accolades continue to flow for the striker, but his collection lacks a trophy and Tottenham have again come up short on that front this season.

Keown thinks Kane needs to change that and stressed that Spurs need to make sure they keep hold of their key players to have a shot at picking up silverware.

The former Arsenal defender said on the BBC's Final Score programme: "Kane has been absolutely remarkable. He's a goal machine. Seven in a week.

"He needs to win a trophy and the next step for Spurs is to do that and keep that group together."

Former Tottenham forward Garth Crooks was also keen to praise Kane, dubbing the striker "unbelievable".

"He's been unbelievable, his third goal was class and epitomised a player who has been scoring goals all season", Crooks said.

Kane has finished the Premier League season with 29 goals to his name, four more than he managed last term and eight more than his return in the 2014/15 campaign.
