Crystal Palace have slapped an asking price on goalkeeper Steve Mandanda, but Marseille remain confident of reaching an agreement in the summer.

The Frenchman moved to England from Marseille last summer, but injuries meant that his stint at Palace has been nothing short of a disaster and he is keen to return to his former club.

Mandanda met Marseille sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta in December and his agent has met club officials on multiple occasions over the last few months to discuss a return.

The Ligue 1 club are prepared to welcome their former goalkeeper back but according to French sports daily L’Equipe, they are wary of the money Palace are currently demanding.

The Londoners signed Mandanda for a fee of around €2m last summer but it has been claimed that Palace are demanding a figure of around €5m from Marseille this time around.

Marseille are not too keen to agree to that figure but the club are confident that they will succeed in agreeing a negotiated price with Palace for the signature of the 32-year-old goalkeeper.

With the World Cup next year, Mandanda is aware that he needs to play regular football next season to make the France squad for next summer’s extravaganza in Russia.

And he believes a return to France will be the best option for him at this stage of his career.
