Jak Alnwick thinks he has managed to put a little marker in new Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha’s head, following his performance in the 2-1 win over St. Johnstone on Sunday.

The goalkeeper, who was signed by former Rangers boss Mark Warburton from Port Vale during the winter transfer window, made his first team debut for the Gers at McDiarmid Park.

Goals from Kenny Miller and Jon Toral put Rangers 2-0 up by the 53rd minute, with Graham Cummins pulling one back for the hosts late on.

Although Alnwick failed to keep a clean sheet on his senior Rangers debut, the 23-year-old feels he did enough to attract the attention of Caxinha, who took charge of Rangers in March.

The custodian went on to add that as a player cannot showcase their talents completely in training, he was happy to get an outing in front of Caixinha against St. Johnstone.

“Yes, definitely”, he told Rangers TV, when asked if he was happy to play in front of the manager.

“You’ve got to show what you can do.

“In training, you can only show so much.

“Without playing you can’t show what you can do.

“Hopefully I’ve put a little marker in his head and you never know.

“You just have to do what you can and you have got to keep pushing every single day and see where it takes.”

Alnwick, who counts Newcastle United and Bradford City amongst his former employers, is contracted with Rangers until 2020.
