Jak Alnwick feels his Rangers team-mates will relish European nights, with the custodian having previously experienced continental games at close quarters before.

Rangers will be playing in the Europa League qualifiers this summer after finishing third in the Scottish Premiership table, with most of the Gers players having little or no experience of playing in Europe.

However, Alnwick, who was snapped up from Port Vale during the January transfer window, has been in the matchday squad of a European game before.

During his time at his former employers Newcastle United, Alnwick was an unused substitute during the Magpies’ Europa League clash against Anzhi Makhachkala away in Russia in 2013.

And the custodian insisted that as he got a feel for European games before, he knows that the Rangers players are looking forward to playing in the Europa League qualifiers.

“I didn’t play but I was travelling, I was on the bench at Anzhi which is in Russia”, he told Rangers TV, when asked if he has any experience of playing European games before.

“Being around you get a feel for Europe and Newcastle are a passionate club like Rangers.

“I think it’s going to be amazing,

"I think it’s something the players will look forward to and new players will come in and know what’s it going to be like.”

Alnwick made his senior debut for Rangers during their 2-1 win over St. Johnstone on Sunday.
