Pontus Jansson has hit back at criticism from some Leeds United fans, who are unhappy that he is vocal about his love for former club Malmo FF and is training with the Swedish side over the summer.

The uncompromising centre-back is determined to stay in shape ahead of his expected international duty with Sweden this June and has called upon former club Malmo for help, dropping into training sessions.

Some Leeds fans feel Jansson should be fully focused on the Whites and not spending time at Malmo – but the defender makes no apologies for his approach.

"It's just pure bulls**t", he told Swedish daily Expressen, when asked about the criticism.

"I have full focus when I play at Leeds and then I love Malmo alongside it", he continued.

"It cannot change, so they can think what they want."

Jansson is hoping he can report for Sweden in good shape and push the country's two first choice centre-backs, Andreas Granqvist and Victor Lindelof.

"It feels like that, that I am behind Andreas Granqvist and Victor Lindelof.

"But I'll be ready.

"There was an injury last time, then I came in and did well. We won both matches", he added.

Leeds fans will be hoping Jansson comes through any minutes he is handed at international level with Sweden without injury, as the Championship club look to prepare for a fresh promotion tilt next season.
