West Ham teenager Declan Rice has stressed the need for him to keep his feet on the ground as he looks to extend his run with the first team.

The youngster made an already amazing season even more special for himself as he came off the bench in the closing stages of West Ham's win away at Burnley on the final day of the Premier Leagfue season.

Describing his experience of playing in the Premier League for the first time, the 18-year-old said that it was a dream come true moment for him and he is now looking to work hard with the coaches to make it count.

While keeping his feet on the ground, the academy graduate insists that he will have to continue giving 100 per cent in training and in the matches he plays, whether for the senior side or the Under-23s.

“To be fair, my feet are always on the ground”, Rice told his club's official website.

"You’ve always got to improve and have people talking about you and keep working hard and that’s what I’ll continue to do.”

West Ham's Under-23 skipper has appeared 20 times this term, helping the Hammers clinch promotion to the Premier League 2 Division 1, and has also received a call to train with the Republic of Ireland senior squad ahead of their fixtures against Mexico, Uruguay and Austria.
