Anderlecht sporting director Herman Van Holsbeeck has revealed the difficulties his club could face in the pursuit of Arsenal and Newcastle United target Henry Onyekuru this summer.

The Nigerian forward’s future at the Eupen has been a topic of speculation in recent days after an impressive season with the Belgian minnows.

Anderlecht and Club Brugge have been interested in the youngster and there has also been talk of West Ham and Newcastle keeping tabs on the Eupen forward.

In recent days there has been speculation that Arsenal have opened talks to secure his signature and Onyekuru has himself admitted that he dreams of playing in the Premier League.

Van Holsbeeck admits that the forward has the qualities to get into the Anderlecht squad but indicated that with foreign clubs interested in him, the Belgian giants have little chance of signing him.

The Anderlecht sporting director was quoted as saying by Voetbal Krant: “He has an interesting profile to replace [Frank] Acheampong.

"But it's not an obvious [transfer] case.

“He is very expensive and there are also many foreign clubs interested.”

Eupen rejected a bid from Celtic for Onyekuru in January but it seems the Scottish champions are not in the running for the forward anymore.
