Newcastle United have rekindled their interest in SCO Angers forward Nicolas Pepe and are in pole position to sign him in the summer.

Hull City made a big effort to sign the Ivory Coast international during the January window and even Newcastle, then in the Championship, wanted to take him to St. James’ Park during the winter window.

However, Pepe did not move to England as he continued at Angers, but Newcastle have continued to maintain close attention in him until the end of the season.

And according to French sports daily L’Equipe, the newly promoted Premier League club have rekindled their interest in Pepe and are keen to snap him up again.

Ligue 1 champions Monaco have also been monitoring the 21-year-old forward, but Newcastle are claimed to be in pole position to finally secure the signature of their long term target.
