Manchester City loanee Patrick Roberts has insisted that his spell at Celtic has made a huge difference to his career and development.

The winger, who was snapped up by Manchester City from Fulham in the summer of 2015, joined Celtic in February 2016 on a one-and-a-half-year loan deal in search of regular first team action, which was difficult to come by at the Etihad Stadium.

While Roberts managed to clock up just 54 minutes over three appearances in all competitions for the Premier League outfit, he turned out to be a vital member of the Hoops squad.

The 20-year-old, who has thus far played 59 times for Celtic, scoring 17 times and setting up 21 goals, has already helped the club to win two league titles and a Scottish League Cup.

Roberts could be part of a Celtic team who finish their entire domestic campaign unbeaten and win the treble if Brendan Rodgers’ side manage to beat Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final on Saturday.

And the youngster, who admitted that his loan stint at Paradise has been beneficial to his career and development, thanked all his Celtic team-mates and coaching staff at the club.

“Yes”, he said in a press conference on Tuesday, when asked if his loan stay at Celtic has truly made a difference to his career and development.

“As a player you thrive on games and form and you become a better player for it.

“I have come on leaps and bounds in the time I have been here, so thanks to the players and the staff here who have all been amazing.

“It’s been a good year, but it’s not over yet we will look to finish it strongly."

Rodgers admitted earlier in the month that he would love to sign Roberts, who is due to return to Manchester City at the end of the season, permanently if the Citizens are willing to let the starlet go.
